The native American Highbush Cranberry is a shrub of immense beauty! A member of the widely planted viburnum family, it has showy flower heads that draw pollinators far and wide. These are followed by bright red fruit clusters that resemble cranberries, both in form and in flavor. Best used for cooking, jams and jellies, though can be eaten raw as well. Prefers rich, moist soils and full sun, but will grow well in part shade. The bark was historically used to sooth muscle cramps, hence another name for it, cramp bark. Fall color is often brilliant, with shades of red, purple and orange! Perfect for wildlife borders to attract birds and pollinators, or as an easier to grow alternative to cranberries!
Zones 2-7
Ships as a dormant bare root plant
